Brick Gamers 44 - Do you feel like 2nd-class?

What do you think? Do modern games make you feel like the gaming company doesn't respect you? Is it a Far Cry (pun not intended) from the glory days of gaming where the customer (or gamer in this case) was placed first as how all companies should be doing and the very idea businesses should be following as per original intention? Or has the excessive 90's and post-Millennium trend caught up in the corporate world which has resulted in the 2000s decade of indulgences by the elite few which in turn resulted in the bottom-level users being short-changed for their investment? With DRM (Digital Rights Management) and today's other anti-piracy measures, even being a legitimate consumer may reward you with rudeness when all you want to do is play the game you purchased legally. So is it worth going straight in the end?

Bloody Hot

The local afternoon heat without the remedy of an air con can be a terrible thing... so I would imagine it is not uncommon for a local gamer without an air con to "dress" up like a barbarian while he is playing in this dead lock heat.

No Escape from the Gaming Scene

The ever increasing presence of gaming in modern life reached another hall mark as evident by the news of Boy Scouts now offer video game merit awards.

Armor are for Sissies

In the long standing traditional old school view that games are mostly made for boys and designed by boys (still is!) comes the common sight of scantily clad women standing with her heavily armored male counterparts. Kind of makes you wonder which is the "weaker" gender when you think about it. The recent "exhibit A" candidate for this issue is Lost Planet 2.

Prince of Persia LEGO movie trailer

If you follow LEGO, you'll know by now there'll be Prince of Persia theme sets coming out this year (already out in some countries), to tie in with the upcoming movie Prince of Persia - Sands of Time, based after the video game with the same name).

Just so you know, Prince of Persia was actually a very old video game a long time ago that has been given a revival with the above-mentioned Sands of Time game but will now be revived more with both LEGO and movie - and who knows, maybe even a LEGO game! While we wait for both LEGO Prince of Persia (for those countries not out yet!) and movie to come out soon, here's a LEGO Prince of Persia movie trailer based after the real movie trailer, created @ MTV News (source):

Behind the Scene: Heads Up

Bolehland.net asked "Do u photoshop the face or do u have that many faces?

Well, we try to use all the authentic face as far as possible; there are times photoshop is indeed used to alter certain facial expression but that is usually the last resort. As a matter of fact we have this head rack around which helps in the creative process of sorting out the wanted expression/head. Lately the rack is desperately running out of space as the collection grew, may be it is time to build a new head rack... you can click on the above image for a closer view.

By the way Bolehland.net are fellow Malaysian aspiring artists who runs their own comic site chronicling Malaysian life. Do check out their work here.

Virtual Pets made Blizzard millions, Elitism to be part of World of Warcraft ?

By now most of our better informed readers should have some how heard of the Fancy Horse Makes Blizzard $2 Million in Four Hours news. If this trend keeps up it might create another sub group of vanity elite players within the virtual world itself, making the widening gap between "have" and "have not" group of people felt even in the virtual world.

Brick Gamers 43 - The Day Xbox Live Died - Updated

Updated - Today is the day Microsoft Xbox Live dies. Own an Xbox? Time to upgrade to Xbox 360 if you want to play online :) [sarcasm] More @ Kotaku here.

As usual, click on the comic below to see the larger size :)

What? You didn't know that Microsoft's Xbox Live online gaming service has been terminated for Xbox in favour of Xbox 360 gaming consoles? Which means if you're an Xbox gamer, your online gaming console days are dead - unless you buy a new Xbox 360 of course :) Read it here.

Microsoft claims this is for the benefit of the community to maintain Xbox Live only for a single console, the same way they forced all Windows Live Messenger (formerly known as MSN) users to upgrade to version 14 (2009), as mentioned by our sister site BrickTech here.

Of course, if you've read our post here (and BrickTech's post here), you'll understand Microsoft is doing this to achieve their ultimate Live Anywhere online service. One service to rule them all? Sounds familiar huh? To see more pissed off gamers comments, check out this post here.

With all the DRM (Digital Rights Management) issues with recent UbiSoft games, ActiVision's evil actions with their acquired studios, and EA (Electronic Arts) increasingly-sucky games in order to 'rape' the gaming community of their money for their own corporate self-interests, it's about time gamers begin to vote against the pillage of the gaming industry as you would vote against politicians who destroy your own country. After all, we all remember a time when playing games used to actually be fun - before the businessmen took over and catered for them.

The Virtual Anti Cash Crops

Recently there is this news of a 12-year-old boy runs up £900 debt on Facebook game FarmVille. Though in the news the boy's mother admit it is the boy who is at fault but the feeling of this whole set up which feels like a none savvy user's death trap seems all too real.
